A €22 million project is heading to Limassol, and it’s going up, quite literally.
The Environmental Authority has given the green light for a mixed-use development in the Neapolis area, clearing the way for an 18-story building that will combine office and commercial space in one of the city’s already busy neighborhoods.
The project will cover 3,123 square meters and won’t be shy on height. Plans show a building reaching 87 meters, with 18 floors above ground, a ground floor, a mezzanine level, a roof garden, and two basement levels.
It’s not exactly landing in the middle of nowhere. According to the authority's assessment, the site sits in an area already filled with residential buildings, offices, shops and restaurants. To the east, it borders another mixed residential and office development. To the west, there are more mixed-use buildings with apartments and commercial units. In other words, it fits the neighborhood’s profile, just on a taller scale.
Architectural plans outline a footprint of 1,250 square meters and a total buildable area of 8,271.78 square meters. The ground floor is designed to include a reception area, restaurant space and parking. The upper levels will house offices, while additional dining areas, terraces and a roof garden round out the design. Two underground levels will provide extra parking and supporting facilities.
If all permits are secured without delays, the project is expected to be completed within about 28 months.
For Limassol, where cranes have become part of the skyline, it’s another sign that development, and vertical growth, isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
