A 45-year-old man from Austria lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday in a road collision in the province of Larnaca.
"Franz Langer, from Austria and a permanent resident of Cyprus, was injured when his car hit a pole and overturned. He was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters, "the collision occurred around 02.45 today at dawn on Andrea Kalvou Street in Livadia, when the 45-year-old lost control of the car he was driving and hit a pole causing the car to overturn".
The statement added that there was also a 40 year old passenger in the car who was slightly injured. Preliminary reports from the Larnaca Traffic Police show that the passenger was wearing a seatbelt while the driver, the victim, was not.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
