Aeronautical exercises dubbed "EUNOMIA 2-2021" is set to begin today in the sea area west and southwest of Cyprus, and will continue to the 7th of October.
As part of the "Qartet Initiative" the exercises will bring together the countries of Cyprus Greece, France and Italy and will include a wide range of naval and air exercises as well as Search and Rescue teams.

The large scale exercises were planned by the Ministries of Defense and Military Staff of the four countries and is expected to involve their respective air and naval forces.
According to the announcement, "The Quartet Initiative is a tangible demonstration of the common understanding of the four European countries as part of a policy of de-escalating tensions aimed at enhancing security and stability in the wider region and ensuring free navigation.
"Furthermore, it demonstrates the collective intention and commitment for the implementation of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and Customary International Law and the maintenance of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean."
