Police in London are calling for any witnesses to step forward following the death of an 80-year-old Cypriot man who was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
According to Parikiaki, Dinos Joannides was struck by a vehicle on Saturday after he got off the bus in Wood Green, a suburban district of North London. He initially received emergency treatment by paramedics but died in the ambulance before getting to the hospital.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and was said to be cooperating with police officers, who were investigating the accident. A post-mortem is expected to reveal the exact cause of death of the 80-year-old man.
It was not clear whether the accident took place while the transit bus was still at the scene. Authorities have called on witnesses to contact police if they have information including incidental camera footage relating to the incident.
Joannides, who was described as a tailor originally from Limassol, was on his way to a Cypriot community centre according to witnesses.
