On Tuesday, the unions representing SEK, PEO, DEOK, PASYDY, PASYNO, and PASYKI collectively rejected the new proposal put forth by OKYPY regarding the collective agreement.
As a result, they are proceeding with a planned strike today in all public hospitals, which will run from 7 am to 3 pm. It's worth noting that the hospitals, according to OKYPY, will operate with the assistance of security personnel. Due to the strike, appointments and surgeries have been postponed, and rescheduling will be necessary.
Employees will gather for meetings outside the hospitals at 8:30 am.
The unions have expressed their dissatisfaction, stating that the recent proposal doesn't substantially differ from previous ones presented by the Organization, all of which had been rejected. This is the reason they find themselves compelled to take strike action.
Charalambos Charilaou, the spokesperson of the OKYPY, expressed their disappointment, noting that they had anticipated a more positive response from the guilds.
The Government Representative, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, emphasized the importance of everyone taking responsibility for the implementation, sustainability, and success of the Gesy, with the primary focus on enhancing the quality of services provided. He made these remarks ahead of the guilds-ESYs meeting, emphasizing that meetings cannot proceed in light of the ongoing strike.
