The Princess of Wales revealed in a video statement released on Friday that she has undergone treatment for cancer, disclosing that she had major abdominal surgery in London in January. Initially believed to be noncancerous, subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer, prompting her to undergo preventive chemotherapy. She emphasized her resilience, stating that she is "well and getting stronger every day" while focusing on healing mentally, physically, and spiritually.
The specific type and stage of cancer were not disclosed. Following the surgery, she remained in the hospital, with the palace maintaining her privacy regarding the nature of her medical condition. Her absence from public appearances since Christmas Day 2023 fueled speculation and online frenzy, intensified by a controversial photo release on Mother’s Day. Amidst conspiracies and media scrutiny, she apologized for any confusion caused by the photo, admitting to editing it. Recent reports also surfaced regarding unauthorized attempts to access her medical files.
The revelation follows King Charles III's announcement in February of his own cancer diagnosis and treatment.
