According to police, a search mission resumed early Wednesday along the Molos beach strip in Limassol, following an unsuccessful search and rescue operation on Tuesday evening after a 44-year-old Polish man reportedly went for a swim and was never seen coming back to shore.

The Coast Guard (port and marine police) was notified Tuesday night around 11:30pm after friends said the man had consumed alcohol and went in for a swim but never came back.

Police told Knews the search for the Polish man resumed early in the morning but did not clarify whether it was a rescue or recovery operation.

The search area could be larger than the Molos area due to the possibility of strong currents, according to police sources.
