The Department of Road Transport (TOM) announces the following, in relation to the renewal of vehicle registration licenses for the year 2022:

  1. Vehicle registration licenses for the year 2022 can be renewed from Friday, January 7, 2022.
  2. The last day of renewal is Friday, March 11, 2022.
  3. They can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine or 12 months.
  4. Renewals can be done until Friday, March 11, 2022, free of charge.  After the deadline, a penalty of 10% of the registration fee plus 10 euros will be imposed in addition to the actual fee for 2022.
  5. To renew your license you must have the following:
    Certificate of suitability or MOT
    Insurance

The Department of Road Transport advises the public to be aware of the deadline so as to renew in a timely manner.

Those who had renewed the registration of their vehicle for the year 2021 but do not intend to renew it for the year 2022 should submit to TOM a notice of "non-operation" of the vehicle.  You may do this in person or online at www.mcw.gov.cy, otherwise, the same costs will apply for 2022, which may include penalties, and will be binding.  Moreover, should these vehicles fail to be registered or declared "non-operational", they will be deleted from the Department of Transport's system.

In case the vehicle is scrapped or deemed out of circulation, an application for the cancellation of vehicle registration must be submitted to the TOM (form TOM 98A) accompanied by the "Certificate of Destruction/Scrapping" issued by a licensed facility.

Renewals can be done throughout the year online, at Banks, at KEP (Citizen's Service Center), at local offices of the Postal Services Department and at local Offices of TOM.

No notifications will be sent to vehicle owners to renew their licenses.
